      One of the Oldest Citizens of Danville
      Passes away in 76th Year.

      Mr. JOSEPH B. WESTBROOK, one of the oldest and most __ citizens of Danville, died last night at 8:45 o'clock, at his home on Grove Street the result of an acute attack of several months. Mr. WESTBROOK suffered a stroke of paralysis about three years ago and since that time has been in declining health. His friends and relatives suffered no apprehension about his condition until last Monday, when the attending physicians pronounced that he had contracted pneumonia.

      At the time of his death, Mr. WESTBROOK was in the 76th year of his age and died after a lifetime of __ness in the upbuilding of the community and services to his fellow men. For the past fifty years he has been closely identified with the foundry and machine business of Danville and was at the time of his death the vice president of the J. B. WESTBROOK Foundry and Machine Company, elevator builders. Few people were more widely known or held in higher esteem, and his death will be received with sorrow by a large circle of acquaintenances.

      Mr. WESTBROOK was a member of the Morotock Lodge of Masons, and the First Baptist Church.
      Besides his wife he is survived by the following children: Mrs. A. R. Raines, Mrs. L. V. Moore, Mrs. W. F. Chapman, and Messrs. Walter J. and John J. Westbrook. One sister Rebecca Shelton, of Burlington, N.C. survives him.
      The funeral arrangements have not been completed and will be announced later.
