  John Rohr Sr was working in a sugar grove, a short distance from Canal Winchester, (Franklin, Ohio), when a storm developed. Later as he was walking home, a tree was blown down by the storm. Sadly, one of the limbs struck him in the head fracturing his skull. He succeeded in reaching home, but he died the same night. John and Margaret's eldest sons Jacob and Charles were born in Pennsylvania. Their children born in Ohio were John Jr, Samuel, Michael, and Sarah. Two other sons died in infancy.
