- The Godtzen family:
A total of ten brothers Godtzen across Jutland came to Stavanger in the first half of the 1600s. They were given all positions of office, among others. other as councilors in Stavanger. Søfren Pedersen Godtzen operated a trade, and owned ships and eventually bought up a large number of properties both in the city and around the county. He was in his time the richest man in the city and became mayor. The family's position in Stavanger throughout the 17th century was strengthened by marrying a number of his 18 children. He was himself a wiger to another powerful man in Stavanger, Christen Thrane. The Trane family: Christen Trane, smith bailiff over Stavanger County, Christen Christensen Thrane, operated a trade, owned ships and was a customs officer. Rector M. Bemtsen writes about him in his book Place name in Stavanger: “In 1612 & @ he, by Stavanger Domkapitel, he prepped the old trading house with facade facing Torvet, which has gained such wide space in Alex. Kielland's novels, the house where skipper Worse - lived. Later it was & now by Wpmann Johan Prahl. The last owner was the house Jacob Kielland & S0n, who in 1852 sold it to the municipality, which demolished it and the house and the back building of the "Worsesmauet" ril extension of the Square. u Seehusen and Smith: Kieland's text also mentions the Smith family. The connection is as follows: Shen (Severiu) and Elisabeth 7. bm, the daughter Elisabeth, married Morten Hansen Seehusen, from Holstein. Through his marriage, Seehusen was able to build up as a merchant and eventually took a leading position, both in business and through office as a councilor. When he joined Me in1694, it was his widow, Elisabeth Smensdatter, who took over the management of the business. When she died in 17 14, the business was taken over by her attorney and daughter, Laurits Andersen Smith, smn by Anders (Andrew) Smith. As a result, both the Godtzen family's and the Seehusen family's business came over to the Smith family's hands. The Smith family owned b1.a. "Blidensol."
