Owen was paternally descended from Blethin Mayarnch, Lord of Brecknock. Thomas, ranger of Breckneck Forest, was often called "The Red Constable". Children of Thomas & Nest were Richard Thomas (bc 1268) & Gruffydd (bc 1270
