Text that pertains to Richard Farthing states: "It was further ordered that the court for Pittsylvania should be held at the house of Richard Farthing until the justices of the peace should select a central point in the county at which the necessary court buildings should be erected. On January 1, 1777, Pittsylvania assumed its present size, and on the 23rd day of that month a court for the county was held at the home of Richard Farthing." Loading...
