HONORS: Knighted before 1138. TITLES: Alleged to have been created Earl of Bedford by King Stephen in 1138 {It is very doubtful that this creation ever took place}: 'The Complete Peerage', vol. 2 p. 69 and 'The Complete Peerage', vol. 14 p. 79 [BEDFORD: p. 69 line 1 and note (a)]. TITLES: Extinct> At his death the title {Earl of Bedford, if it existed}, in all probability, became extinct.
