  The Brockmans descended from an Essex county England family, dating to John Brokeman, who received an estate and coat of arms with the Crusader's Cross, for family service during the crusades. The Essex estate was granted under Richard II. Thomas Brookman, wife Amy buried in the Barbadoes 1678. Henry Brockman in Maryland 1674. Samuel Brockman of King and Queen County, Virginia, Planter, 1731. Believed to be living on estate of his in-laws, 1704. Children of Samuel Brockman and wife Mary, Will Orange, 1766. (She died 1776.) 1. Samuel, m. Rebecker by 1744; died 1790. Wife died 1814. 2. William of Albemarle, m. Elizabeth Mason by 1748. Will 1809. 3. John, m. Mary Collins by 1734, died 1756.
