  Transcription of names and birth dates in Avery Mustain's Bible. Noteworthy here is the inclusion of his daughter Saludy and his son Sherwood, who are not mentioned in Avery's will. Saludy had married, moved to Ohio, and possibly died (1827) before Avery's will was recorded on 21 April 1829. The Bible record is also the only record that lists Sherwood Mustain. In many ancestry trees Sherwood's date of death is listed as the date of Avery's will because he is not mentioned in the will. For that reason Sherwood's date of death is listed as "before" 21 April 1829. List of Birth Dates for Avery Mustain’s Children from his 1801 Bible. Background – This record was written on the inside cover of Avery Mustain's 1801 bible and submitted as part of his Revolutionary War pension application. It helped establish that he was married to Mary and that as his widow she would be eligible for a pension payment. The record lists (1) his children and (2) his grandchildren through his oldest daughter, Saludy. Clark H. Moore is the grandson mentioned in Avery's will as Clark Mustain. Based on Clark’s birth in 1807 and Saludy's age, she is the only one of Avery’s children who could be the mother. Saludy didn't marry Samuel Dalton until 1809, two years after Clark was born. Clark's father remains unknown, or whether he married Saludy (or died soon after conceiving Clark), but there were Moores living in Pittsylvania County at the time.
