      In 1759 Whitehead Ryan, son of Philip (d. 1764) bought 400 acres of land in Albermarle County, which at that time adjoined Goochland. It is interesting to note that Whitehead Ryan's land was contiguous to that of Thomas Jefferson. Philip Ryan Jr., son of Philip (d. 1764) is thought to have moved to Pittsylvania County, Virginia. William Ryan, son of Philip (d. 1764) was living in Amherst County when he sold 220 acres of land in Goochland County in 1773. William is believed to have died after 1800 in Franklin County, Virginia.
