Cornelius Cruys, or Nils Olesen as he was baptized was born in Stavanger in 1657 and his parents were Ole Gudfastsen from Kvitsoy and Apellone Nilsdatter Koch from Stavanger. Ole Gudfastsen was the son of a fisherman and had at a young age became a tailor in Stavanger. He became a respected citizen of the city and he was known for his skill with the "kard". No one else of the city's citizens could get as elegant and dangerous as he did. Apelone was a beautiful woman sorn the real Oluf Godfastsen immediately after he had taken bourgeoisie as a tailor master. Cornelius Cruys was probably born on Skagen or at Bekken. There is a lot of disagreement about this. The parents had an arelang bordered with their neighbor Tom Hansen Glassmaker, Tom Hansen had in his time been one of Apellone Nilsdatter Koch's lovers, but he received a blank rejection. However, he married Anne Hansdatter, daughter of Radmann Hans Pedersen Gammel in Stavanger. The dispute was about one or five quarters of an ounce (one square is about 0.39 square meters). Apellone Nilsdatter Koch was known as an impulsive woman, and she was not afraid to go straight to court. B1.a. we see it in her reaction when the townman with his 6 men in the excess had been ground the ground. She picked up the badge, the pile, which the mayor and his line had put on the ground. Furthermore, she knocked down Tom Hansen's newly built fence. It is said that Apellone was the one who kept the dispute going. It is assumed that the reason mentioned is where the Tarng gallery is today.

Apellone Nilsdatter Koch attends in 1678, Guri Nilsdatter Berland from Gjestdal. According to Apellone, Guri Nilsdatter Berland on St. Hansday had been in handmade with Apellone's son, Hans. Guri Nilsdatter Berland had come to Stavanger and rode along Breiavatnet. Here she came out for Hans Olsen (Apellone's son) and two other tasters who threw stones at her horse. Probably this has happened in the vicinity of the Schoolbook, because one of the convicted wives had been standing on the churchyard wall and seeing how it went. Guri Nilsdatter Berland fell off the horse twice, but she was no more hurt than that she got hold of Hans Olsen as she hit "and put Hannem out in the Brewandet to his knee". Afterwards he was picked up and she "hit him backwards against the stones, so that the blood flowed over his head". When Hans Olsen came home he had holes in his head and the claws were bloody. Otherwise she is mentioned on several occasions in the court records. The property owned by Ole Gudfastesen and Apellone Nilsdatter Koch on Skagen was probably inherited by their daughter Sissel. Sissel was married twice, first with merchant Albert Albertsen Libert, and second in 1700 with merchant Ole Jacobsen Smith. The latter's brother, Hans Jacobsen Smith was married to Sissel's sister, Kirsten. In 1731 Sissel and Ole Jacobsen bought Smith's son-in-law, Jens Abrahamsen Ploug, his in-laws' house in Skagen. The reason for the sale was that Ole Jacobsen Smith would settle her two dotres heritage after their mother, Sissel. In this food, the old family property goes over to the later known trading house Ploug & Sundt on Skagen.

Kvitsoy was named by the Dutch for Cruys Inlet (Korsoy) for a stone cross erected in early Christian times. The stone cross could be seen from a distance of seven-seater and eventually became an important landmark. During a voyage from Stavanger to Amsterdam, Nils Olesen decided to become a Dutch seaman. His name was from Dutch to Dutch as he wrote about Nils to Cornelius and the family name of Cruys after the stone cross. KVITSØY.

Skagen 18 on the seaside of Skagen, is one of the oldest and most famous buildings in the city of Stavanger. The oldest part of this commercial building was probably built after the city fire in 1684, and before 1710. The oldest known residents are Sidsel Olsdatter Cruys (sister of Admiral Cornelius Cruys) and Albert Albertsen Libert who lived here 1687-1700. Merchant and shipowner Ole Smith Plow had established his trading business here in 1768. There is rose paint on the wooden walls. These are dated to before 1710. In a rebuild for Ole Smith Plow, in 1787, the house received the magnificent facade it has today, in a variant of rococo with great cuts. At the height along the entire facade are nine ionic columns. Today a bakery and restaurant business are run in the building.

Apellone was the one who kept the dispute going. It is assumed that the aforementioned land is where the Thrngalleriet is today. Apellone Nilsdatter Koch meets in 1678, Guri Nilsdatter Berland from Gjestdal. According to Apellone, Guri Nilsdatter Berland at St. Hansdag had been in the treasury with Apellone's husband, Hans. Guri Nilsdatter Berland had arrived in Stavanger and was riding along Breiavatnet. Here she came out to Hans Olsen (Apellones srann) and two other small boys who threw stones at her horse. This probably happened near Skolebekken, because one of the conscripted wives had sat on the churchyard wall and seen how it happened. Guri Nilsdatter Berland fell off her horse twice, but she was no more injured than she got hold of Hans Olsen, whom she hit "and put him out in the Brewand on his knees". Afterwards, he was taken up and she "hit him backwards against the stones, so the blood flowed over his head". When Hans Olsen came home, he had a hole in his head and his clothes were bloody. Otherwise, she is mentioned on several occasions in the court records.

The property that Ole Gudfastesen and Apellone Nilsdatter Koch owned on Skagen was probably inherited by their daughter Sissel. Sissel was married twice, first to barber Albert Albertsen Libert, and the second time in 1700 to barber Ole Jacobsen Smith. The latter's brother, Hans Jacobsen Smith was previously married to Sissel's sarsterXirsten. In 1731, Sissel and Ole Jacobsen Smith's brother-in-law, Jens Abtahamsen Ploug, bought his parents-in-law's house on Skagen. The reason for the sale was that Ole Jacobsen Smith wanted to hide his two daughters' inheritance from their mother, Sissel. In this way, the old family property is transferred to the later SA known trading house Ploug & Sundt p5 Skagen.

Kvitsoy was called Cruys Inlet (Korsoy) by the Dutch after a stone cross that was erected in early Christian times. The stone cross could be seen from a great distance by seafarers and eventually became an important seamark. During a trip from Stavanger to Amsterdam, Nils Olesen decided to become a Dutch sailor. His name became from now on completely Dutch in and rned that he wrote about Nils ti1 Cornelius and the family name ti1 Cruys after the stone cross on Kvitsoy.

Cornelius Cruys career was founded on hard work and after his fifth trip in Ostersjsen he was hired by Baltazar van der Wort in Amsterdam. From then on, he had a rather tumultuous existence when, as a thief, he became chief mate of the East India liner "Prins Wilhelm", a "pinass" of well over 500 tons with 60 guns. Later, when the captain of "Prins Wilhelm" fell ill and died, Cornelius Cruys took over command. Cornelius Cruys was married some time later to Katarina Vooght, daughter of one of the directors of the East Indian Company, Jan Vooght. He continued his service as captain and after a while was appointed to war captain in the Dutch fleet. His closest superior was schoutbynacht (vice-admiral) Gilles Schey, second-in-command at the admiralty. Cruy's fifth mission was to ensure equipment after each new warship was completed. An English delegation, led by Admiral Herbert, came to the Netherlands and requested Prince William of Orange to come to England to save the country's religion and freedom. Cruys received orders for A dare flaten ready to sail. Without his connections in the East India Company, he would hardly have Wait A requisitioned all the necessary material.

Among other things, Cruys and his wife were bridesmaids when the tsar got married, a very large zere which was only awarded to the most distinguished persons of rank. Cornelius Cruys distinguished himself several times during the Great Nordic War, especially during the Russian conquest of Viborg in 1710. When he lost a ship during the attack on Finland in 1713, he was sentenced to death, but acquitted. The Great Nordic War ended in 1721 and the Swedes had to resign forever. Russia, the provinces Livland, Estonia. Ingermanland, a more specific part of Karelia with Viborg and Kexholm counties. On 21 October 1721, the triumphal celebrations began in St. Petersburg. In the Russian Senate, Cornelius Cruys was appointed admiral, vice-president of the Admiralty College and baron of Kexholm County, as well as given the title Admiral of the flag.

Cruys (John), by birth a Dutchman, merchant in Petersburgh. He had the rank of captain in the service of Holland, and was son of the celebrated Vice-admiral Cornelius Cruys. Peter the Great, judging him worthy of his confidence, visited him frequently, and employed him, always with advantage, in the works carried on in the dock yard, and in his military expeditions by sea. This valuable officer died in 1751.

He was an Ensign in 1743, in 1746 a Second Lieutenant in the Grenadier Corps. In 1751 he was a First Lieutenant, and in 1759 a Captain. He was dismissed in 1785 as a Lieutenant Colonel.

He was unmarried and died in extreme poverty, his estate consisting of 3 gl shirts, 1 scarf, 2 pr socks, 1 shirt, a pair of pants - worth a total of 1 rdl 2 sk.

Although he never married he admitted being the father of Metha Hansdatter's child.

Ploug & Sundt. Ole Smith Ploug (1738-1792) founded the company in 1769 on his parents' farm in Skagen 18. It was a waterfront residential and commercial building with salesrooms. He was a shipowner, a dealer in herring and salt and other things. In 1791 Ole Smith Ploug took the orphaned cousin Hans Gabriel Buchholm Sundt (1768-1839) with him as a partner and changed his name to Ploug & Sundt. In 1792 he took over the entire company after Oles' death and married the widow, Maria Henrica Ploug, in 1796. He expanded the trading house with shipbuilding, herring fishing, salt works, timber trade and a retail business. After Sundt's death in 1839, Lauritz Wilhelm Hansen (1816-1871) continued the company with branches in the shipping business of herring export and trade. In 1871 his son Hans Wilhelm Severin Hansen (1841-1919) took over both Ploug & Sundt and the trading house JA Köhler & Co. Both trading houses went bankrupt in the crisis year 1883.
