1870 census lists in Adrian, Franklin & Frank Rice. Frances also witnessed some of her father's patents as "Frank Smith". The age is correct as well as birthplace, also listed is February of same year as the month of marriage.

Frances is not listed in the 1850 census in Pittsford or Hillsdale with her parents, even though she was born in 1847. In Wheatland/Hillsdale census for 1850 I found Frances A Smith age 3 living with John and "Barbary" Nesbit. I am assuming for the moment this is Barbara Smith sister of Daniel C Smith, who is caring for his daughter until Daniel & Melissa can get on their feet. In 1850 Daniel & Melissa are living with Melissa's parents John & Maria Munger. These 2 towns are close to each other.

Frances married Franklin Elliot Rice on 23 Feb 1870 in Rollin, Lenawee, Michigan, USA. Franklin (son of Ebenezer Sawyer Rice and Caroline White) was born on 13 Jan 1841 in Salina, Onondaga, New York, USA; died on 28 Apr 1873 in Sycamore Valley, Contra Costa, California, USA; was buried in Oakland, Alameda, California, USA.
