    Hugh Reynolds was a member of the Muddy Run Society, a congregation of Covenanters in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Rev. John Cuthbertson was the first Covenanter missionary to America in 1751. He kept a diary of his activities from the first day of his arrival in America. On 30 Dec 1756, he recorded the following, "Rode 6 miles to and from Wm. Neilie's; married Hew Reynolds and Mary K."
