John, born in 1601, made his way across the seas in 1644. His wife was Jane ____ who bore him six children. John's offspring were: John (jr.), Edward, Henry, William and Garrett. Of this family, John (jr.) married Elizabeth Mott and bore three sons: George, Paul and William. Paul, son of John (jr.) and Jane (sic) Pigg was born circa 1683 and died 16 Sept 1766. His first wife was Elizabeth Osbourne, daughter of William Osborne. Their children: Paul, John Ghent, and Elizabeth. By his second wife, Sarah _______ he fathered eight children. John Ghent Pigg married Ann Clement, daughter of William Clement. They had four children: Hezekiah Ford, Edith "Edy", Keziah, and Elizabeth. Further descendants: Hezekiah md. Cemetery Location: 6 miles northeast of Chatham, Virginia, on Route #691, on the south corner of the intersection of Routes #691 and #649 at “Pineville” the home of D.H. Crawley.

This family burying ground is situated about 25 yards from the old home of William Clark, known as “Pineville”, and is enclosed by an iron fence. To the right after entering the gate there lies buried William Clark and wife Jane in one tomb overcovered by a tall brick wall with a flat slab thereon, from which it reads as follows:

This indenture made this first day of February one thousand seven hundred and seventy six. Between William Bennet Senr of the County of Pittsylvania of the one part and Reubin Bennett a grandson of the said William Bennet and a son of Peter Bennett of the other part. Witnesseth that the said William Bennett for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which he hath for the said Reubin Bennett hath given and granted and by these presents doth give grand and confirm unto hihim the said Reubin Bennett his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred and ninety four acres (be the same more or less) being the lower part of a parcel of two hundred and sixty four acres conveyed to the said William Bennett senr by the Executors of Richard Randolph Gents of Henrico deceased situate in Pittsylvania County on the south side of Staunton River and bounded as followeth Viz. Beginning at Black walnut on the said River thence along the old patent lines S 20 D E 72 poles to a corner hickory in the head of a valley thence S 37 D E 204 poles to William Bennett | Bennett, Reuben (I12535)

I Philip P. Shepard, Sr. of the County of Pittsylvania and State of Virginia being advanced in age but of sound mind and disposing memory do make and Constitute this my last will and testament in manner following to wit: First it is my will and desire that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid first out of any assets of which I may possess. Second I give to my son John W. Shepard and to my three daughters Elizabeth B. Shepard, Clementine P. Shepard and Eliza A. Shepard respepectively one bed and bedding. Thirdly I give and bequeath to my beloved wife during her life or so long as she remains my widow, all of the property both real and personal of which I may die possessed, after the payment of my just debts as abovve mentioned and I hereby authorize her to give to any of the heirs of my body any portion of my estate during her life provided and equal share thereof shall be given to all my children hereafter named. Fourthly, It is my will and desire that my beloved wife Parthenia L. Shepard shall have full control of all my estate during her life and shall have perfect right to consume so much of all the rents and profits accruing there therefrom as may be necessary for her comfort and support, t together with either or all of my daughters who may remain unmarried and remain with her after my diseased [sic]. Fifthly it is my will and desire that after the death of my wife Parthenia L. Shepard all of my estate both real and personal which may then exist and not consumed shall be sold at public auction and proceeds accruing from said sale to be divided equally between all the heirs of my body after taken in consideration the amount of advancements made to them respectively durining my life as well as during the lifetime of my said wife. Sixthly. It is my will and desire that after all the existing debts of the firm of P. P. Shepard, Sr. shall be fully paid and settled up that my son P. P. Shepard, Jr. shall be entitleled to one half of all the goods that may then remain on hand. Seventh. Having the utmost confidence in the integrity of my beloved wife Parthenia L. Shepard, I do hereby constitute and appoint her my Executrix to this my last will and testamennt and do most respectfully request the Judge of the County Court to permit her to qualify without giving any security. In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand to this my will dated 29" day of March 1879 in the presence of the undersigned as witnesses to the same.

At a County Court held for Pittsylvania county on the 19" day of January 1880. The last will and testament of P.P. Shapard, Sr. was proven by the oaths of Stephen H. Townes and William W. Boothe the two subscribing witnesses thereto and is ordedered to be recorded. And on the motion of Parthenia L. Shapard the Executrix therein named, who made oath and entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of eight thousand dollars conditioned according to law, certificate is granted her for obtaining probate of said will in due form, the testator requesting the Court not to require security of the said Executrix.

Poul Weybye, Krigskommissær, Overhofmester.
He must come from Helsingør and was during the war with Sweden in 1710 and the years immediately following, the Chandlers Master of the Norwegian Army. He was appointed in 1714 to the 'Cashier udi Norway' and later the title of War Commissioner and was a member of the kongl. Commission that the Bishop Deichmans Management prepared the new buildings adjacent (1723), but not entered into force. He got involved in Bjærgværksspekulationer in association with the once wealthy merchant in Skien Nils Josten and these swallowed what he treasury funds could muster, he made him strains of Zahlkassen the Form of Advance. Ws Bo already 1711 in The Balance, had finally abandoned in 1722 when Josten owed the royal bank above 50000 Rdl. They were both put in Akershus, where Josten died, and W., who could not get his debts covered, hensad to June 1733, when he under King Christian VI's Travel in Norway were released, after which he and his second wife lived in his Svigermoders House in Christiania until he resigned in death 18 November 1739th - He was married 1 with Margareta Maria Waach (d. 1711), probably a priest's daughter from Headlands in Hallingdal and 2 (22 Sept. 1716) with Maria Collett (b. 27. November 1695 17th November 1762), daughter of Kommerceraad James C. (IV, 50). She married 1741 Peter Resen, councilor and magistrate President in Christiania (b. 1692 d 1743).
