1915 Stuck in Paris
AFFIDAVIT TO EXPLAIN PROTACTED FOREIGN RESIDENCE.
FOR USE OF NATIVE CITIZENS
[American citizens who have resided abroad for many years are reqiured, when making applications for passports, to furnish affidavits stating the cause of their protracted foreign residence; their present ties of family, property or business with the United States; how often they have made visits to the United States; whether they pay the American Income Tax and whether they entertain any definite intention of returning to the United States permanently to reside.]
I, (Mrs.) MARY HINCKLEY , a native born and loyal citizen of the United States, do solemnly swear that I last left my domicile in the United States at Hubbards Hill, Stamford, Conn., on or about the 10 day of October , 1910 ; that I arrived in Paris, France , where I am now (temporarily) residing, on the 1st day of December , 1910, my reasons for such residence being as follows:
After my husband’s death in 1910, I came abroad with my mother to settle up his affairs, as he had owned considerable property in Europe; shortly afterward, my health broke down, and I have resided there ever since with my mother, Mrs. Josephine Wood, and my young son, principally on account of the healthful and equable climate.
Since establishing a residence abroad I have made the following visits to the United States:
In 1912 and 1913 I returned with my mother to visit relatives, for several months each time.
I have never been naturalized, taken an oath of allegiance, or voted as a foreign citizen or subject, or in any way held myself out as such.
I maintain the following ties of family, business, and or property with the United States:
I own real-estate in Stamford, Conn., securities in New York City; and I have an aunt, brother-in-law, and niece residing in New York, and numerous cousins in Mississippi.
I do do not pay the American Income Tax at: New York City
I intend to return to the United States to attend to personal affairs within six months years or when travelling on the ocean is more safe than at present.
I last registered at the American Consulate at _____--______ on _____--______

The field officers were Colonels William Gilham, John M Patton Jr, and William A Witcher; Lieutenant Colonels Richard H Cunningham Jr, and William P Moseley; and Majors William R Berkeley, Alfred D Kelly, John B Moseley, and Scott Shipp.

2nd Generation
“GEORGE BOONE II. (Son of George Boone, the First) was born in or near the City of Exeter in Devonshire; being a Blacksmith; his Wife’s Maiden Name was Sarah Uppey.
He died aged 60; and she died aged 80 years, and never had an aching Bone, or decay’d Tooth.”
The Boone Society has not been able to find the marriage or birth records for George Boone II and his wife, Sarah and cannot confirm her maiden name of Uppey. Because “Uppey” is used in the Old James Boone Genealogy, the Boone Society accepts it, and “Oppey/Opie are names also under consideration.
However, The Boone Society does have burial records for both George II and his widow (written “wido” in the old records) Sarah which are recorded at Stoke Canon Parish, Exeter, England. (The Church at Stoke Canon is St. Magdelene.) The original records are now located at the Devon Record Office in Exeter, England, and they read as follows:
Documents owned by the Boone Society:
George Boone was buried ye thirty first of May 1696 Sarah Boon “wido” was buried ye 5th of February 1708
Relying on the James Boone Genealogy that George II was age 60 at his death, then his approximate year of birth is calculated to be 1636; and Sarah, age 80 at her death, would have been born 1628.
Also, the Boone Society has Stoke Canon Parish baptism records for three children of George Boone II and wife Sarah: (1) Henry; (2) George III; & (3) John. Although they may have had other children, only records of three children have been found. These 3 records are:
Documents owned by the Boone Society:
(1) Henry Son of George Boone was baptized the nineteenth of October 1663 Henry Son of George Boone was buryed ye eighth of February 1663
(Note: Yes, the baptism and burial dates for Henry are correct! In the old style reckoning [Julian calendar], March 25 was the beginning of the year, therefore the infant Henry would have been about 4 months old at his burial.)
Documents owned by the Boone Society:
(2) George Son of George Boone was baptized the Nineteenth of March 1666
(3) John Son of George Boone was baptized the twentieth day of April 1673
John Boone was buryed the 18th day of April 1693
