8 Mar 1784 from James Preston of Halifax Co. to William Epperson of the County of Pittsylvania, for 100 £, about 200 acres in Halifax on the north side of the Banister River, and bounded by William Pearman, Runaway Creek. Signed - James Preston. Wit -Wm Weakley, Henry Beard, Thomas (X his mark) Farmer, Richard Royall. Recorded 19 Aug 1784
He was Appraiser of inventory of John Crawford in 1778. Thomas moved from Campbell Co to Pittsylvania Co in 1784. He died before 20 May 1811 in Pittsylvania Co, VA.
Thomas bought & sold various properties. Some of them are:
In 1769 he bought 222 acres on the N side of Otter R. in Bedford Co., VA.
In 1772 he bought 106 acres on Harvey's Branch [on Otter River], Bedford Co., VA.
In 1776 in bought 373 acres on Johnson Creek, Bedford Co., VA.
In 1779 in a list of surveys, Thomas had 174 acres on W branch of Johnson's Creek, Bedford Co., VA.
In 1791 in with wife Jane, sold 544 acres in Campbell Co., VA.
In 1799 in sold property to Laban Farmer Pittsylvania Co., VA.
Thomas moved from Campbell Co. VA to Pittsylvania Co., VA. between 1778 - 1779 His occupation was surveyor & planter.

p. 7: "Thomas lived in Campbell County when Campbell was part of Bedford County, so some records were Bedford County records. We located him first in County records when he bought land in Bedford County in 1769, just before his second marriage."

In the 1770 Bedford Co Va marriage records Thomas lists himself as a widower when he applied for the marriage license. The surety bond is signed by William Baber. William is probably a brother of Jane BABER. Jane was born on 12 May 1752 in VA. Thomas FARMER and Jane BABER had the following children:

Nuncupative will of SAMUEL FARMER made whilest he was in the military service and directed if he should die that his negro Sarah, willed to him by his father, in which his mother has a life estate, should at her death go to his brother JOHN FARMER.
