Notes |
- David fought in the civil war in Company G, Woods Regiment, 1st Mississippi Calvary, under Adams. He was a scout for the confederate troops. He sold items from a horse-drawn cart and was allowed to move freely among the troops of both the north and the south. In this capacity he was able to gather information from the north troops and carry it to the confederates. He suffered injuries during that war, and in 1877 he supposedly died from the results of those wounds. His wife Mattie died the year before and the three surviving children were raised by relatives, one child had died as an infant.
