- Known by his nickname Tar. Given to him by his older brother Richard. As a small child Richard couldn't say Caleb, it sounded to everyone like "Tar", so the name stuck.
Tar served under General Patton in WWII.

Caleb Judson Moore Jr., age 84, of 832 Cherrystone Road, Chatham, died Thursday,April 7, 2005 at his residence. He was born on April 8, 1920, in Pittsylvania County, the son of the late Caleb Judson Moore Sr. and Mary Echols Moore.
Mr. Moore is survived by one sister, Phyllis M. Bennett and her husband, Calvin of Chatham; one brother, E. Paige Moore and his wife, Jean of Dayton, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Judith O. Moore of Westlake Village, Calif.; 17 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Imogen M. Ramey; and three brothers, Richard E. Moore, Carlton W. Moore and George L. Moore.
He was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church, an Air Force veteran of World War II , and a retired farmer.
Funeral services will be conducted at Scott Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, April 9, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. with Ministers Frank Fuller and Jimmy Bennett officiating. Burial will be at Chatham Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Scott Funeral Home on Friday, April 8 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at other times will be at the residence.
