Notes |
- Judith "Jude" Motley md Thomas Pain/Payne/Paine about 1755 . On Oct 23, 1755 Flatt Creek was deeded to Thomas Pain by Joseph Mottley "for the love and affection I bear my son-in-law." On 18 Apr 1769 Thomas Payne and wife, Jude, sold to Thomas Wilkerson land on Nottoway River. A Post Office opened about 1798 at Painville, Va was named for Thomas Pain, who is best remembered by the community as an infidel because he was not a member of any church. They left this section of Amelia Co. and have no trace of them since.
